About Padgett

Padgett, Incorporated was contracted to dissemble the Confederate monument and reassemble it at Brandenburg Waterfront Park where it will join the Underground Railroad sculpture, a tribute to Native American history and another monument that commemorates the raid led by Confederate General John Morgan. Since our founding in 1962, our company has been dedicated to the preservation of American history. We were contacted when the initial discussions began about the move. We did not fully commit to the project until the decision was made to not move the monument into a warehouse. In addition, we considered that from a city planning perspective, the current location both renders the monument inaccessible and lost amongst our modern cityscape. At its new home, the monument will be able to be observed now and in future generations within a beautiful and dignified setting where its presence will be appreciated. Padgett, Incorporated believes the Confederate Monument is a piece of history that is important to preserve. It is a testament to where we have come as a nation and where we never want to return.
